Something New to Love Journal

Something New to Love Journal

Encourage children to keep a Love discovery journal where they note down new things they found enjoyable or lovable each day. This helps cultivate a positive mindset and appreciation for daily experiences.

How amazing would it be to look back on a notebook of drawings, words and pictures your child noted down in the previous few weeks to see all the new things they found to love each day? You might even capture it as a video or audio recording each day, and then Friday nights as you put them to bed, you can listen or review the journal with them. What a way to cultivate a positive mindset with your child, and to teach them how to have appreciation for all their daily experiences.

And what a joy it will be to share this with grandma, or aunties, especially if they live far away. I can tell you from experience that missing out on the day-to-day happenings of beloved children is pretty painful, and yet of course many of us are left “out of the loop” just because parents and kids are so busy getting through their days and weeks. Finding a simple, easy, repeatable way to create a journal of new things to love will instill in your child an essential skill of self-reflection, it can provide valuable insight to you as a parent, and it can be a ready “snapshot” to share with family members who delight in watching your little one grow. Win-win-win, all around!
