God’s Will and Our Will
A couple years ago, I was struck with the thought that when we align our will with God’s Will, THEN we find the flow, happiness, and fulfillment we all dream about. But I had no idea how to do it consistently, or to even know what this mysterious “God’s Will” really is. (Usually, whenever something bad happens, people try to comfort you by saying “It’s God’s Will”, which of course is precious little comfort indeed.)
As I am reading A Course In Miracles, however, it is becoming clear that God’s Will IS our will. And our will IS God’s Will. There is truly nothing we can do wrong in God’s eyes, so even if we get a little “willful” and go off on a tangent using our free will, the Infinite Creator merely chalks that up to exploration of experiences (which is why we were created), and welcomes us home like the Prodigal Son whenever we decide to discontinue that path. When we feel an inkling, a calling, an urge to do something which we might perceive as our will, that actually IS God’s Will, it’s Spirit nudging us in a direction to pursue our highest good. So, in any and every case, we are fulfilling the will of God and the free will He gave to us. To experience mostly bliss and fulfillment along our way, however, the simplest choice may be to tune into the Voice of God (the Holy Spirit, your intuition, etc.), so that you are in tune with the capital “W” Will of God, which I think of as the beeline to achieving, experiencing and feeling all we are meant to in this life.
